Blue Biome has officially joined the Partners4Ocean Community, part of the EU4Ocean Coalition, an initiative supported by the European Commission to advance ocean literacy and sustainable ocean development.

This milestone connects our Norwegian non-profit organisation with a growing European network of educators, scientists, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders committed to bringing ocean knowledge closer to society.

Through this community, we look forward to sharing our educational board game and digital resources, exchanging experiences, and exploring opportunities for collaboration with the Network of European Blue Schools and other members.

Joining Partners4Ocean represents an important step towards expanding Blue Biome's educational reach and contributing to a more ocean-literate society.

Blue Biome kommt nach Kenia

Blue Biome’s arrival in Kenya opens an opportunity to explore, test and co-create ocean literacy tools for Kenyan Blue Schools, adapted to the local context.

We are excited to connect with GOLI Kenya (Global Ocean Literacy Initiative), which supports ocean literacy and Blue Schools, and the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI), bringing scientific knowledge of Kenya’s marine and coastal ecosystems.

Thank you to Joan Karanja and Ciku Karanja for their enthusiasm, support and help in opening this opportunity for collaboration.

Blue Biome wurde auf der CommOCEAN 2026 vorgestellt

Blue Biome was presented at CommOCEAN 2026, the international marine science communication conference held in Bergen, Norway.

The event provided an opportunity to introduce our educational ecosystem to marine scientists, educators, and science communication professionals, who explored and tested the Blue Biome board game.

Through hands-on gameplay and discussions, participants experienced how marine biodiversity, ecological interactions, and environmental challenges can be translated into an engaging learning experience.

The enthusiastic response and valuable feedback received during the conference are helping us refine the game and explore new possibilities for connecting ocean science, education, and public engagement.

Die Kickstarter-Kampagne vor dem Start beginnt

Blue Biome has officially launched its Kickstarter pre-launch campaign, marking an important step towards bringing our educational board game into production.

After months of development and prototyping, we are inviting ocean enthusiasts, educators, families, and board game players to discover the project and follow its progress.

The crowdfunding campaign aims to support the production of the physical game while helping us build a community around ocean literacy, scientific discovery, and learning through play.

Integrierter Meeres-Wissensgraph

Blue Biome has integrated its Marine Knowledge Graph, introducing a new way to explore the complex relationships that connect ocean life.

The graph links marine species, habitats, environmental pressures, and ecological interactions, helping users investigate how marine ecosystems function as interconnected systems.

This development strengthens Blue Biome's scientific and educational foundations and establishes a framework for connecting knowledge across our digital resources, including species cards, interactive maps, and future AI-assisted learning experiences.

Interaktive WebGIS-Plattform veröffentlicht

The Blue Biome WebGIS platform is now available, bringing a geographical dimension to our exploration of marine ecosystems.

Through interactive maps, users can discover marine environments, explore spatial information, and develop a better understanding of the geographical patterns that shape ocean biodiversity.

The platform forms an important part of the Blue Biome digital ecosystem, connecting geographical information with our species catalogue and other educational resources.

Our ambition is to make marine spatial information more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for educators, students, and ocean enthusiasts.
